Ms. Wigtil (she/her) began her career as a music educator in Tucson. She has taught orchestra at numerous schools in several districts, focusing on recruitment, retention, growth, and collaboration. Her students earned high ratings at festivals, performed in honor orchestras, and have gone on to pursue music in college. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Ms. Wigtil has also taught violin and viola lessons to students across the country, both virtually and in person.
Ms. Wigtil attended the University of Arizona and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Minor in Psychology. As a proponent of collaborative efforts, Ms. Wigtil previously served in leadership roles for the Sunnyside district string department and as the chairperson for the Southern AZ Honor Orchestra festival. As a performer, she enjoys playing in various small group projects on viola and violin. She is pursuing many new endeavors as she established herself in Tucson again. Ms. Wigtil is a strong advocate for her students, believing that music is for everyone and is a pure form of self expression, connection and community. She is excited to be back in Tucson to share in music making with the amazing young musicians in Southern Arizona and in Catalina Foothills.
Ms. Wigtil is excited to be teaching at Esperero Canyon Middle School! She also teaches orchestra at Canyon View Elementary and Ventana Vista Elementary. Outside of school, Ms. Wigtil enjoys reading, getting outside, and spending time with friend & family.
