Is this taught by Cedar Falls teachers?
Yes, the Virtual Campus is taught by Cedar Falls Schools teachers.

How do I enroll my child?
If you are currently in the Cedar Falls District you can indicate your interest through this form. If you do not live in the Cedar Falls District, you need to complete the open enrollment form by March 1, 2021.

What is the attendance policy?
Attendance will be taken. If your student will be absent from school, please call Heather Scannell at 319-553-2423 to let her know so she can update attendance records.

Will technology devices be provided for all students?
Yes. PK-3students will receive iPads, 4-12 students will receive Chromebooks.

What if I don’t have internet?
A collaborative initiative between Cedar Falls Schools and Cedar Falls Utilities provides discounted internet service for low-income students and their families. Visit https://www.cfschools.org/about-us/connectcf for more information.

If I choose the Virtual Campus who do I contact with questions? What am I signing up for?
If you choose this option you are signing up for our Cedar Falls Virtual Campus. This campus, like our other buildings, will have high expectations for students and staff, necessary resources, and supports for students and families. This campus will have specific virtual teachers. Additionally, virtual teachers will continue the expectation of meeting in Professional Learning Communities collaborative teams to review individual data to ensure students are receiving necessary support.

What will a typical day of online learning look like?
Instructors will create a positive virtual learning environment where they will provide engaging and rigorous learning opportunities. Students may participate in large group and/or small group experiences. They will also work on asynchronous work throughout the school day. The curriculum will follow the Iowa Core Standards and district scope and sequence.

Will there be a schedule for students that are learning online or will we receive a list of assignments to complete and they have a deadline to be done by?
Yes, there will be a schedule for students. For elementary students a daily schedule will be sent to families. At the secondary level, a syllabus and schedule can be found on the student's Schoology account.

Is the online option going to be via CF schools or through a private "homeschool" academy?
All online continuous learning will be facilitated by a Cedar Falls Schools teacher. Teachers may utilize online curriculum from a number of sources however instruction continues to be the responsibility of Cedar Falls Schools.

How will online learning work for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs)?
For students receiving special education services, IEP team decisions may impact student placement. This includes the ability to fully participate in the virtual campus. IEP teams may need to convene to determine if a student's unique needs can be met in such a setting.

Can I move back forth between learning platforms? (virtual and in-person)
Due to the considerable staffing implications, a move from virtual to in-person cannot be made after the school year begins.
