The high school is the only high school in the county that HAS NOT had a remodel bond for the facility. We ran a major maintenance levy to address the replacement of the instruction roof in the summer of 2024. That levy will be removed from the taxation process on July 1, 2026 (20.45 mils).
*Updated Information: HS District Bonding capacity has been recalculated based on new information and new values in the district. The Bonding Capacity for the HS District is a touch over 95 Million.
Boy...wouldn't that be nice! Our current high school has 148,350 square feet throughout the whole building, not counting the external spaces for the Art Annex, Cabin Building, or the parking lots.
Placing all of these buildings under one roof and providing enough space for additional students, the price tag of a new build would be over our current bond capacity. We just don't have the funds to create a comparable and future-ready building for our students and community.
When schools go through the process of remodeling or building facilities, the amount that is requested is the total amount needed to complete the process. The amount that is being requested includes items such as financing the selling of the bonds and financing the project, providing furniture and equipment for the building spaces, design fees, permit fees, inspection fees, and other costs associated with the build. Those costs are all included in the financial ask for this bond. The price per square foot in the building work has been increasing along with other expenses around us. We do not anticipate these costs to start decreasing in the future, so this project is at the lowest price-point right now.
The school district is constantly working to ensure that all voices are heard. This process started February 19, 2025 at the Long Range Planning Committee meeting with the Trustees. There will be multiple opportunities for stakeholder input throughout this process. Please continue to monitor the Stakeholder Input page for future opportunities.

Definitely! When the time comes, we will have a student voice present for these committee meetings. Your voice (student voice) is very important to this process. Stay in tune with this process and we'll have plenty of opportunities for student participation.
Absolutely! This remodel will include heaps of school spirit and an upgrade on the school's appearance. We are installing new lockers (the full lenght ones) in the classroom wing this summer, so their color will be nice and fresh with operating latches.
Classroom improvements will be part of this remodel. We'll see if we can get a couple of different options for the students to test out prior to making a choice!
The safety and security of our students is paramount to the district. We will continue to look at an increase in security measures to provide an excellent learning environment for all.
This question came from the student surveys. The bathrooms are an area that will be addressed in this remodel. The older infrastructure is not meeting the needs of our students and staff. This remodel will address areas such as the bathroom to meet the identified needs of our Wildcats/kats.
EVERYTHING is under review and up for grabs! We recognize the importance of all of our programs, especially our band and music programs. We will work with Jackola Engineer to determine what possibilities exist.
