Meet the Coaches

Coach Thacker-

Head Coach

My name is Mrs. Thacker, I was born and raised in the Katy, Houston Area. I obtained my Undergraduate and Masters Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University as well as my principal certification. I have 3 kids and I am married to my college sweetheart. This will be my tenth year in education and my eighth year at Thornton. I taught 8th grade language arts for six years, last year I had the pleasure of serving as one of the Admin Helping Teachers and this year I have the honor of supporting teachers, students and administrators as the Behavior Interventionist for our campus. I am also thrilled to continue leading the TMS "Patriotettes" Dance Team into year seven along with our amazing assistant coaches... Mrs. TJ, Ms. Tillman and Ms. Gillum. :) I truly love what I do and I am honored to serve every student I have the pleasure of working with. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, reading, singing, working out and coaching the dance team.

8th Grade Assistant Coach

My name is Ms. Johnson-George, also known as Ms. TJ. This is my fourth year teaching 8th grade language arts at Thornton Middle School, which is awesome because I get to share my love of reading with young scholars on a daily basis. Being a member of an award winning drill team, experiencing the sisterhood, and reflecting on personal growth throughout those years have allowed me to see just how valuable being a part of a dance team can be. Which is why I’m so excited to begin this fourth year as an assistant coach for the TMS Patriotettes, dedicating time outside the classroom to help our girls continue their path to success.

I am honored to be a part of each dancer’s experience and look forward to seeing them grow throughout this journey.

Hi! My name is Acacia Gillum, but your child may know me as Coach Gillum. I will be one of your child's assistant dance coaches this year. I am BEYOND excited to embark upon this journey at Thornton for this 2019-2020 school year! This year's theme is CULTURIZE: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes. I look forward to growing our girls not only as dancers, but as young ladies.
My family and I are from a small town called Hempstead, TX. I have resided in the Houston area for the last 15 years of my life, so I consider this my home. I absolutely LOVE to read (both recreational and professional literature) during my free time. My favorite color is blush pink, and I am obsessed with tropical scented candles. I am the second oldest of 5 children, as well as a proud mother of an adventurous 3 year old named Bryce. I am a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I was a cheerleader for 4 years and on the drill team for 1 year in highschool. Upon graduating, I began to coach cheerleading for 2 years in Waller, TX. This will be my first year as a dance coach, and I look forward to this year, as well as the years to come,x with the Patriotettes!
