6th Grade World Cultures

6th students will explore people, cultures and places of the contemporary world. Major units of study include geography and culture, the Americas, Europe, Russia, North Africa and Southwest Asia, Africa south of the Sahara, Asia (India, Southeast Asia, Japan, China, North and South Korea), Australia and the Pacific Rim. Through the study of these world cultures, students will gain a better understanding of how history has influenced the development of current societies and how cultures use various ways to organize government and economic systems.
