I graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics-Dietetics in 1986. I worked in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics until I felt led to teach Science in the classroom. I returned to Lamar University and received my Masters of Science in Secondary Education in 2002. I started teaching in Port Arthur ISD. and taught there for two years. I moved to Beaumont ISD in 2004 and taught Science in 5th grade for eleven years (I have also taught Math, Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies). In 2015, I returned to my first love teaching Science in middle school.
I am passionate about STEM education and completed from NASA Endeavor a Leadership Certificate in STEM education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
I recently moved here from Beaumont, Texas and cannot wait to begin my 19th year of teaching being a Sabercat at Smith Middle School!
