What about Grades

Grades

Taking a grade on something is a way of showing me what you understand and do not understand.

I cannot improve STUDENT mastery, only you as the student can do that. It is my job as a teacher to give you the tools to do so.

Tests are here to stay.

Grading Standards

90 - 100 - A

80 - 89 -B

Retakes

When you were first potty training, your parents did not give you one chance to get it right (or you would still be in diapers). Instead, you practiced until you mastered it!

Everyone messes up. Life just happens. Maybe you did not study like you should have...or maybe your pet elephant got sick and you were very upset about it. For whatever reason, you failed your test.

Before you redo though, we will create a plan to help guide your learning and reinforce those skills you possibly did not understand. You will need to come to tutoring.

The redo policy in CyFair is as follows.

Students may redo 1 assignment per category per grading period for a grade not to exceed 70%.

No Extra Credit?

No, I don’t believe in extra credit. It will happen though, at the end of the quarter, someone will not like the grade they have earned and want additional work to bring their grade up. But, remember, it is not about the grade, it is about the learning!

How much have you learned? Did you show me?

Monitor your grades and your effort throughout the grading period. Here are some ways you can put in some extra effort:

  • Keep your notebook up today

  • Review your science notebook outside of class.

  • "Study" with friends

  • Use the additional resources section found on this webpage and resources found in google classroom to learn more about the topic, review material and play games. (If you find fun in what we are learning, you are more likely to understand and remember it!)

  • Attend tutoring before tests and quizzes
