Writing

Writing workshop consists of a 45 minute block of writing in our daily schedule where students practice writing a small moment story independently after given specific mini lessons. We also interactively write together learning and practicing correct grammar such as capitalization, punctuation, and parts of speech. In First Grade we focus on six main areas of writing which include; word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, ideas, organization and voice. The students are graded on the district rubric below.
