Any assignment not submitted at the beginning of class period (BOP) on the due date is considered late. Students will receive a ‘Z’ in the grade book which now counts as a redo assignment for which they can only make up to 70, unless excused. Summative assessments must be made up after school. In the event a student would like to replace a zero or improve a low grade, they may redo an assignment as assigned by the teacher by the two days prior to the end of the progress reporting in which the work was assigned.
In the event a student misses an assignment, they are allowed the number of missed days to make up their assignments or two days prior to the end of the progress reporting in which the work was assigned (whichever is later). Students will be assessed over the same skills, but with a different version of the test or quiz.
Ex: Two days absent = Two days to make up work
Students must abide by UIL guidelines to be eligible for competitive sports and extracurricular activities. These standards include maintaining a 70 or above and a satisfactory or above conduct at the time of report card submission. In the event a student falls below the necessary grade expectation, they have until the following progress report to bring the grade to a passing status.
Copying another student’s answers from a homework assignment, worksheet or anything else is considered illegal collaboration. This is another form of plagiarism and will result in perpetrators (all parties involved) receiving a zero. You may work collaboratively without ramifications when the assignment specifically states, “work in a group or with a partner”.
Tutorials are offered Monday-Thursday after school. Students should set up tutorial times with their teacher, and they must have a pass from their teacher to attend. In the event a teacher and student’s schedules do not align on those days, students may visit another English II teacher during their tutorials.
Late buses are available for students Monday-Thursday. This allows students to attend tutorials. However, students MUST have a pass from Study Hall to ride the late bus which they will receive at the end of tutorials from their teacher. The late bus leaves at 5 pm. Late buses DO NOT run on Friday, so tutorials are not held on Friday.
