Lelah Loftin received her Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern State University. She was born in Virginia, and moved to Louisiana at the age of 13. She has played piano and sung in church choirs her whole life. This will be her twenty-sixth year of teaching, tenth year at Cy Lakes, 23 Years in CFISD.
Ms. Loftin believes that all students deserve the right to be treated fairly and equally. The students in the Cypress Lakes choir program know that being part of the choir, is also being part of a family. Ms. Loftin has four sisters, one brother, two nieces, two nephews, two cats, and thousands of precious students who have impacted her life. Several of her former students are now professional singers, music teachers, college conductors, church directors, and teachers in CFISD. "Singing is about reaching the inner emotions that only music can reach. Music is the only universal language."
Ruben Perez graduated magna cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with his Bachelor of Music in 2015, and his Master of Music in Choral Conducting from SFASU in 2017. Mr. Perez has taught Choir in Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD, and Brazosport ISD, and after spending the last three years as Head Director of Brazoswood HS Choir increasing success in UIL and TMEA events, and growing student leadership and community involvement, he is excited to join Ms. Loftin in supporting the students of Cypress Lakes HS Choir!
In addition to being a singer, Mr. Perez plays acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and enjoys playing worship music with his dad and brother. He and his wife (also a choir director!), 15 month old son Samuel Isaiah, and rescue dog Nala are so happy to be moving to Katy, Texas where they can focus on family and grow as choral educators. Go Spartan Choir!
