Homeroom Announcements

Parents

Please encourage your child to read every night at home for at least 20 minutes and to log their progress by tracking pages read, start time and end time, and the title/author of their book. They can add their progress to their school log (which is graded) when they return to school!

Another way for students to practice ELAR skills at home is to write about their reading. They can do this in so many ways-- jotting thoughts, questions, and reactions, writing a paragraph to summarize and help them remember, using strategies learned in class, writing a story that was inspired by their book, or even illustrating the pages or sketching a "summary" picture.

Students can practice their word study patterns using their weekly hard copy of the spelling words, or viewing the list under "This Week"-- they can write sentences using the words, write a story using the words, write the words in succession, and much more.

Students can practice Revising & Editing by using ARMS and CUPS to improve their writing (or your writing!).
