The GT referral window is open until September 25th. Please visit our referral page to complete the form
Transfer students must be screened before they are placed in GT courses. Please complete the Transfer Form to begin the process.
Testing: Begins in September to ensure students are identified more quickly.
Teachers: Teachers may refer students in their current classes for the next school year. Please note that the MAP criteria for referrals has increased to 89%. Teachers must also complete the Student Characteristics Survey for any referred student before the school year ends. This year, we are using a Google Form for the survey, so no paper submissions are necessary. If a teacher refers a student, our department will reach out to the teacher to make sure we get it from them before school ends.
Parents: Parents are also eligible to refer students. The MAP criteria is also 89%, and they will also need to submit the Google Student Characteristics Survey.
Can current Pre-K students be referred? No. We will still conduct a universal screener for all Kindergarten and 5th-grade students in the fall.
Can current Kindergarten students who were not identified this year be referred? Yes. While we generally recommend waiting a year before re-testing, they may be referred now if they meet the 89% MAP criteria.
Can current 4th-grade students be referred? It is not necessary, as they will be included in the universal 5th-grade screener next year.
Can current 5th-grade students who just completed the universal screener be referred? Yes. However, we recommend waiting a year before testing again. If they meet the MAP criteria and wish to proceed, they may be referred.
