SAGE Kindergarten: Pattern Detectives on the Prowl

Kindergarten students will become pattern detectives while participating in hands-on, discovery based learning activities. Math, science, technology, and creativity will be woven into daily activities as SAGE kindergartners explore PATTERNS and CYCLES across multiple content areas and discover how they are connected to each other. Students will have the opportunity to participate in Reader’s Theater, analyze rich literature, create masterpieces, and apply problem solving skills through conducting experiments and cooking. Critical thinking skills will be applied when finding patterns and trends in everyday life, especially in games including chess.

SAGE First Grade: Problem Solvers

First Grade SAGE students will solve a variety of problems through stem challenges, creation of projects and group collaborations using the Kaplan Depth and Complexity model! Our first graders will solve the problem of the boring playgrounds kids have to play on in today’s world! We NEED to save playtime for everyone! Students will team up to create and build a new and improved playground. They will also advertise and create a commercial to pull you in for playtime! We will also explore weekly breakout boxes and STEM challenges! During the STEM challenges the students help Skippyjon Jones get across the tough waters to a new land and then build his new habitat! SAGE One is a very open ended, exciting place where math, science, technology, and creativity will be integrated every day. Students will learn the basics of the great game of chess. The only other way to define SAGE One is Out of this world!!! Come join us in all the fun!

SAGE Second Grade: Power Up with Energy

Second Graders will explore the concept of RELATIONSHIPS through explorations of weather and solar energy using math, science, and technology. Students will focus on the RELATIONSHIPS behind all energy on Earth and the sun. Second graders will explore weather and solar energy by engaging in multiple hands-on experiments and activities which harness the power of the sun including building solar powered machines and solar cooking. Come explore and learn about these fascinating areas of science, in addition to using daily technology and even an opportunity to learn about the game of chess.

SAGE Third Grade: Forensic Detectives

Third grade SAGE students will be learning more about SYSTEMS through a study of coding, forensic sciences and the game of chess. Students will solve crimes by collecting and analyzing evidence, conducting experiments, and investigating solutions using forensic science which will incorporate math, technology, creativity, and critical thinking strategies. Students will also focus on the SYSTEMS of coding through problem solving, algorithms, and conditionals. Students will learn basic coding and put their skills to the test by creating games, presentations and recreations of events. Students will have the opportunity to stretch their strategic thinking and problem solving skills with the game of chess.

SAGE Fourth Grade: Robotics Rules

Find out what elements are necessary to build and support STRUCTURES! Fourth Grade SAGE students will use LEGO Robotics kits to build, program, create, and document designs to complete challenges. Students will also participate in solving logic puzzles using breakout boxes. They will create a recipe project for which they will research the feasibility of cooking in the SAGE environment and determine which recipes will actually be made in SAGE though a voting process. They will construct the supportive packaging of a single pringle to withstand the mailing process. Students will have the opportunity to receive instruction and compete in chess tournaments. Throughout the SAGE 4 program, students will document their activities and successes using iMovie.

SAGE Fifth –Seventh Grade: So You Think You’re an Astronomer?

The fifth, sixth, and seventh graders will gain insights to becoming future Astronomers using Project Based Learning (PBL) to explore 3D models of different constellations, their histories, and the mythology developed through the ages. Students will use tools such as Google classroom and a digital Socratic seminar explore STRUCTURES in the topic of astronomy and space exploration across multiple content areas including math, science, reading, and history. Utilizing Google Classroom, these future astronomers, will explore critical thinking skills by applying analysis of a book like Arthur C. Clark best seller 2001: A Space Odyssey. Additionally, students will continue to strengthen and improve upon their critical thinking skills while receiving instruction in the game of chess and competing with their friends. Space is the final frontier and this summer is only the beginning for those brave enough to take to the skies through reading and space exploration.

SAGE Kindergarten: Detectives de patrones al acecho

Los estudiantes de kindergarten se convertirán en detectives de patrones al participar en actividades prácticas de aprendizaje. Diariamente se entrelazarán las matemáticas, la ciencia, la tecnología y la creatividad en las actividades de SAGE, cuando los estudiantes de kindergarten exploren PATRONES y CICLOS en múltiples áreas de contenido y descubran cómo se conectan unos a otros. Los estudiantes tendrán ocasión de participar en “Reader’s Theater”, analizarán literatura, crearán obras maestras y aplicarán sus destrezas de solución de problemas al hacer experimentos y al cocinar. SAGE Primer Grado: Solucionando Problemas

Los estudiantes de SAGE en primer grado solucionarán una gama de problemas, aceptarán retos de STEM, crearán proyectos y colaborarán en grupo usando el modelo Kaplan de profundidad y complejidad. Harán de los patios de recreo de hoy áreas emocionantes y diferentes para todos. TODO MUNDO tiene que jugar para aprender, y los estudiantes inventarán y construirán un patio de recreo más interesante, lo anunciarán y crearán un comercial para atraer a más niños al nuevo espacio. SAGE Segundo Grado: Enciéndete con Energía

Los estudiantes de segundo grado explorarán el concepto de RELACIONES a través de exploraciones de clima y de energía solar utilizando matemáticas, ciencias y tecnología. Los estudiantes se enfocarán en la RELACIÓN entre toda la energía en la Tierra y el Sol. Explorarán el clima y la energía solar haciendo varios experimentos y prácticas que aprovechan la energía solar, crearán máquinas propulsadas por energía solar y prepararán comidas usando energía solar. Vengan a viajar con nosotros por el fascinante mundo de la ciencia, de literatura, de la solución de problemas; ¡Hasta aprenderán a jugar ajedrez!

SAGE Tercer Grado: Detectives Forenses

Los estudiantes de SAGE en tercer grado aprenderán más sobre SISTEMAS a través del estudio de la codificación, de ciencias forenses y del juego de ajedrez. Los estudiantes resolverán crímenes usando un sistema de colecta y de análisis de evidencia, haciendo experimentos e investigando soluciones con el uso de ciencias forenses. Incorporarán estrategias de matemáticas, tecnología, creatividad y de raciocinio crítico. También se enfocarán en SISTEMAS de codificación a través de la solución de problemas y de algoritmos. Aprenderán los fundamentos de codificación, crearán juegos, presentaciones y recrearán eventos. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de extender sus destrezas de raciocinio crítico y de solución de problemas jugando al ajedrez.

SAGE Cuarto Grado: Reglas de la Robótica

¡Vengan a descubrir qué elementos se necesitan para construir y apoyar ESTRUCTURAS! Los estudiantes en SAGE de cuarto grado usarán equipos de robótica LEGO para elaborar, programar, crear y documentar diseños para diferentes proyectos. También solucionarán acertijos usando cajas con cerradura y clave, explorarán la posibilidad de cocinar en el entorno de SAGE y determinarán por medio de voto qué recetas preparar en SAGE y determinarán cómo empacar una sola papita Pringle para que llegue intacta a su destino. Tendrán la oportunidad de aprender a jugar ajedrez y de participar en torneos de ajedrez. Durante todo el programa, los estudiantes de SAGE 4 documentarán sus actividades y sus éxitos usando iMovie.

SAGE Quinto –Séptimo Grado: ¿Entonces crees que eres un astrónomo?

Los estudiantes de quinto, sexto y séptimo grado obtendrán ideas para convertirse en futuros astrónomos que utilizan el aprendizaje basado en proyectos (PBL) para explorar modelos 3D de diferentes constelaciones, sus historias y la mitología desarrollada a través de los siglos. Los estudiantes usarán herramientas como el aula de Google y un seminario socrático digital para explorar ESTRUCTURAS en el tema de la astronomía y la exploración espacial a través de múltiples áreas de contenido que incluyen matemáticas, ciencias, lectura e historia. Utilizando Google Classroom, estos futuros astrónomos, explorarán habilidades de pensamiento crítico aplicando el análisis de un libro como Arthur C. Clark, el best seller 2001: Una odisea del espacio. Además, los estudiantes continuarán fortaleciendo y mejorando sus habilidades de pensamiento crítico mientras reciben instrucción en el juego de ajedrez y compiten con sus amigos. El espacio es la última frontera y este verano es solo el comienzo para aquellos lo suficientemente valientes como para volar a través de la lectura y la exploración espacial.
