What is Work Experience?
Work experience is a high school program that allows students to gain real-world, on-the-job experience while earning credits toward graduation. It helps students explore careers, develop skills, and build professional networks. Students may earn up to 30 credits in work experience, but the number of work experience credits that may be counted toward the Alberta High School Diploma is 15.
Who Can Participate?
Students in Grades 10, 11, or 12
Must meet school-specific eligibility requirements, including age and academic prerequisites including HCS3000
Program Features:
Students work in a supervised workplace with guidance from an employer/mentor
Typically earns 5–15 high school credits per placement, depending on hours completed.
75 Hours = 3 credits, 100 Hours = 4 Credits, 125 Hours = 5 Credits
