❑ There is a balance of summative and formative assessments.
❑ There is a reasonable number of assessments, based on the time of year.

🕵️What to look for: Creating an Assignment
❑ Name of the assignment reflects the learning outcome, rather than generic statements. (See standards tab)
❑ The “Count in Traditional Final Grade” is unchecked.
❑ “Extra Points” should not be used. These are “bonus points” that do not follow best assessment practices.
❑ Learning Outcomes (Standards) are attached.
❑ 1-3 Learning Outcomes is a reasonable expectation
❑ KUSPs may or may not be attached.
❑ If the category is “Summative K-4”, the “Count in Grade” is checked.
❑ If the category is “Formative K-4”, the “Count in Grade” is unchecked.

🕵️What to look for: Scoring an Assignment
❑ Numerical scores or ✔️ are included in the “Score” column.
❑ Achievement indicators are provided for each of the Learning outcomes.
❑ Evidence of consideration for achievement on individual learning outcomes.
❑ Achievement indicators are not merely copied across.
❑ Comments have been applied where appropriate. (Comments are not expected for every student, every assignment.)
