**In-person sessions will be held at CESA 5 in Portage, WI**
Topics will include:
Discipline/classroom management techniques
Important health and safety information
Expectations from the classroom teacher
Special education concerns
Technology training
Sample emergency lesson plans
Networking and questions from participants
Identify and understand the professional responsibilities and roles of the substitute teacher
Components and various types of lessons
Understand the legal responsibilities of a substitute teacher
Use and demonstrate appropriate communication protocols and procedures during the school day
Participants who complete the workshop will be considered a "CESA 5 Certified Substitute Teacher" and will receive a certificate from CESA 5.
Price: $150
- Participants are required to have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Institution of Higher Education.
- Participants will use the completion certificate to apply for the Wisconsin DPI Short-Term Substitute Teacher License.
Wisconsin DPI is the final licensing authority.
- Certificate of completion is valid for any future application of the Wisconsin DPI Short-Term Substitute Teacher License.
*You must reapply for the Short-Term Substitute Teacher License every three years.*
Three-Year Short-term Substitute License
This license allows the license holder to be a short-term (no more than 45 days in a specific assignment) substitute in any subject and in any grade level.
This license is for applicants who:
This license allows the license holder to be a short-term (no more than 45 days in a specific assignment) substitute in any subject and in any grade level.
This license is for applicants who:
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND have successfully completed an approved substitute teacher training program.
OR
- Are at least 20 years of age, enrolled in an educator prep program, approved by the state superintendent that awards a bachelor's degree, successfully completed a minimum number of credits to have achieved junior status, AND completed 15 hours of classroom observation.

- Are at least 20 years of age, enrolled in an educator prep program, approved by the state superintendent that awards a bachelor's degree, successfully completed a minimum number of credits to have achieved junior status, AND completed 15 hours of classroom observation.
