Phonics program

The Teachers as Co-Learners phonics program is an essential component of TCL, aimed at supporting students’ linguistic awakening to enhance their literacy development. 

During the program, students develop their phonemic awareness and phonics competence through explicit and systematic instruction. Through this structured back-and-forth engagement across both languages, students become confident language users who are able to apply sound decoding to facilitate reading fluency and comprehension. 

As students learn to read and spell, they develop their understanding of the sound to spelling correspondence, applying and using their phonics knowledge to read continuous texts.
