Students must have scored an 18 or higher on their ACT reading and english tests in order to take this class. 

• The English Composition class (ENGL 1010) course focuses on extended source-based writing and/or projects, including a compare/contrast paper, cause/effect paper, and persuasive paper. It emphasizes organizational strategies for different modes of writing as well as incorporating research when necessary. 

• The second semester ENGL 1020: Writing & Research breaks down the research process into a detailed step-by-step approach. Students spend the semester building one 8-10 page in-depth research paper, using the skills they gained in English 1010.
