I am glad you are here! I am so excited to share this school year with you and your child.
We are partners in your child's education - together we can make all the difference in the world! It will be so much fun to watch your child bloom right before our eyes!
I am very proud to be a 4th grade teacher, high school boys basketball coach, and the acting "Voice of Centura" for this community.
I attended UNL for my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and capped it off with my student teaching in Central City for the entire 2012-2013 school year, and have been a proud Centurion ever since.
In fourth grade, it is our belief, that a classroom should not be set up in the same way as a cemetery, set up in straight rows & columns with everyone facing the same direction. We believe that every student learns best in their own unique way, and it is our job to support that to the fullest of our abilities. We believe that Flexible Seating assists in preparing students in many different ways:
Organization - Students not having their own desk, means they are cleaning and organizing the classes space multiple times per day.
Social Awareness - Sharing a space with everyone brings up many situations not addressed when students are assigned their own desk. Students (and teachers) will become better problem solvers, and more aware of the group around them.
Flexibility - Whether it is not restraining our movers and shakers to a desk and chair, or being able to ask an overly social student to put themselves into a better learning space, we are equipped to provide a solution for every student.
