The Reading 7 course is a one-year program designed to build upon the critical thinking skills developed in Reading 6 and enhance the skills in literary analysis that are introduced in that course. Students will practice and develop their analysis and interpretation of texts, build vocabulary, and read a variety of forms and styles. Through the study of various literary genres, including novels, short stories, poetry, plays and essays, students will explore and interact with the literature. Students will share their insights about these different texts using discussion, group work, hands on activities, projects, as well as various assessment formats. The course also uses supplemental materials such as standards-based instructional workbooks, Accelerated Reader, and Study Island.
