I communicate through the private Remind App.  Parents of students will receive homework messages and other important information from me through Remind messages.


     In our second grade class, students will learn concepts in reading, phonics, grammar and spelling.  We will cover addition, subtraction, and problem solving strategies as well as money, time, measurement, geometry, data, and introductory multiplication in math.  We will learn about world cultures and American history.  Several instructional strategies will be used, including whole group, small group, and paired instruction.

Our reading series is Amplify  CKLA. It consists of 6 Skills Units and individual, chapter-style readers. There is also a Knowledge component, which focuses on  variety of cultural studies.

Accelerated Reader

    Students are leveled at the beginning and halfway through the year to find at which AR book level they should be comfortably reading and understanding independently.  Students should read within this level and take AR tests on their books read often!  They are welcome to read books you have at home along with the books read here at school for AR tests.  If you have questions about which books are AR test books along with their level, please click below:
