AP English Literature and Composition is an intensive course that focuses on a wide range of genres. Beyond preparation for the AP Exam, students will demonstrate an understanding of course content primarily through writing, as well as through class discussions, presentations, and traditional methods of assessment.  As with every language arts class, the curriculum encompasses material beyond the literature itself: contextualizing AP standards, mastering college-level vocabulary, applying literary terms, replicating syntactical patterns, and practicing formal written English are among the additional components of the course.
