Raider Competition or "Raider" as it is more commonly known is a very popular athletic competition held within Junior ROTC programs around the United States. It is the Junior ROTC equivalent of the Army ROTC "Ranger" competition in college, only far less dangerous but very challenging as well! Raiders Competition is held at Fort Dix.
The current 5 team events are as follows: Cross Country rescue/Gauntlet (team carries a 75 lb simulated patient on a medical litter over a grueling 1 mile course while carrying 25 lb backpacks traversing obstacles), The Gauntlet (a team run for one mile with 25 lb backpacks negotiating a few obstacles at the half-way mark), the One-Rope Bridge (the team constructs a rope bridge following detailed rules and are timed to compete), 3 KM run (a team run where members must start and finish together), and the Raider Physical Challenge (a sprint team obstacle course with mazes, lifts, jumps, carries, and crawls throughout).
Our Raider season starts in february as drill season ends. We compete against 12 Local schools in the south jersey league.
