Academies

Central Regional High School Learning Academies embrace students' pursuit of knowledge in strong academic areas of study within the Arts, Sciences, and Humanities. Students who possess proficient English skills coupled with a strong academic record will have the opportunity to grow and development their college and career fundamentals and build a solid foundation for their future.

o Qualified senior students are dually enrolled at Central Regional and Georgian Court University (GCU) where they earn transferable GCU credits. Courses are taught by Georgian Court University Professors in the Humanities Wing of the high school during the regular school day. GCU courses are integrated into the seniors’ regular class schedule to meet all graduation requirements for their high school diploma. Successful graduates can enroll in an American college/university as an advanced student transferring up to 18 college credits earned during the senior year of high school. Although there is no cost for the Humanities Academy, international F-1 students must meet a rigorous criterion for acceptance into the Academy.

o Mission Statement: It is the mission of the Central Regional Humanities Academy to continue in its important and long-standing tradition that through the diversified curriculum, students will achieve an understanding of human behaviors, cultures, and civilizations. The Central Regional learning community is committed to rigor and excellence in the pursuit of both knowledge and understanding as the Humanities Academy embraces the liberal arts and sciences as the curricular basis for the growth and development of the whole student.

o Application Requirements: Proficient English speaking skills coupled with translated ELTIS or TOEFL test scores; SAT or Accuplacer test results, application, essay, and interview.

o State of the art project based courses focused on theoretical research, social media platforms & analytics, and problem solving principles. Students will position themselves to be leaders in the new, data-driven economy and in a field that is in high demand in today’s society. Coursework for 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grades include:

o The Leadership Academy is an academic program centered on leadership theory and the application and development of leadership skills. The courses provide a variety of academic approaches including analyzing leadership cases, film study, guest speakers, self-assessments, team building exercises, and educational excursions and presentations both on and off campus. The Eagle Leadership Academy will provide our students with the skills necessary to become the leaders of tomorrow. Coursework for 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grades include:

Leadership and the Lens

o Mission Statement: It is the mission of the JROTC to motivate young people to be better citizens through strong leadership skills. Your experience will direct you to learn and apply leadership principles through a series of activities and adventures.

o As a JROTC cadet, you are embarking on one of the most interesting and valuable educational and leadership experiences of your high school career. In JROTC, you will participate in your education and will learn to apply leadership skills utilized in jobs, industry, government, and civilian life. Army Junior ROTC is a four-year program available to grades 9 through 12. The program provides each individual with tools and skills to succeed in high school but more importantly, these tools and skills will be useful for the remainder of your life. Cadets engage in over 100 events each year including:

§ Annual appearances before Municipal and State Legislators

§ Formal Military Ball

§ Supporting the community through volunteer projects

§ College visitations

§ Drill Competitions

§ Travel within and outside of the continental United States

§ Memorial Services

§ Rappel and White Water Rafting Adventures
