Class overview
English is all about reading and writing, so we will read and write about what we read. Grammar rules are covered using DGP (Daily Grammar Practice) which we alternate with an AOW (Article of the Week). There are two big writing pieces for both English I and English II, as well as classical and contemporary texts for reading. Each class covers the dives into grammar, story structure, rhetoric, and reading for understanding.
About me
I hold a Specialist in Educational Administration from Southeast Missouri State University. SEMO is also my alma mater for my undergraduate and master's degrees.
I always felt called to teach. I believe teaching is a gift, and I want students to walk away from my class with the ability to think critically and independently. My teaching career started at Hayti High School teaching English I and II in 2016, then I taught 6th grade ELA here for 4 years. After that, I taught 8th grade ELA until it felt as if I was being called to teach at the high school in 2025.
