April 17 – Andrew Beine is a senior college seminarian for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He has called Winona home for the last four years while receiving priestly formation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary. He is the seminarian head of liturgy and music planning and where he also serves as head organist. He sings in the seminary Schola Cantorum, which made its second annual spring performance tour this year through Wisconsin and Indiana. Beine began playing piano at the age of seven and picked up several wind and percussion instruments through his grade school years. He started learning organ under the tutelage of A. Eric Heukeshoven at the beginning of his academic studies at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Andrew plans to engage graduate theological formation in Rome, Italy in preparation for priestly ordination in the Fall of 2024. View the program | Listen to the recital
June 19 – Noah Carlson started playing the organ for his hometown church Cross of Christ Lutheran in Houston, MN. He started his organ studies with Rose Weichert, and also studied under A. Eric Heukeshoven and Erik Floan. Noah continued his organ studies at Yale University and graduated with a B.A. in Statistics and Data Science. He is currently the Organist and Accompanist at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church in Plymouth, MN. View the program | Listen to the recital
July 17 – Sue Walby is Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church in La Crosse. Walby is a graduate of Lawrence University where she studied organ with Miriam Duncan. She also studied with Robert Scoggin, Rochester MN and Russell Saunders, Eastman School of Music. Walby maintains a private piano teaching studio at her home in Viroqua, Wisconsin. August 21 – Daniel Lewis is the Director of Music at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church and School in Winona, MN since 2020. Within that role, Daniel collaborates in worship planning, leads the congregation from the organ and piano, directs the choir and handbell choir, and teaches music to grades K-5. September 18 – Sebastián Modarelli studied at the National Conservatory of Music in his native Buenos Aires, Argentina, earning his degree as salutatorian of his class. He currently serves as Music Director and Organist at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Rochester. View the program | Listen to the recital
October 16 – John Stender has served as the Director of Music and Organist at First Presbyterian Church in Rochester, Minnesota since 2019. The church supports a multi-faceted sacred music ministry, a 4th-12th grade band program, and for more than three decades has promoted its A Festival of Music concert series. November 20 – A. Eric Heukeshoven is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who currently serves as Director of Worship, Music & Arts at Central Lutheran in Winona. He holds a B.A. in Composition and Theory from the University of Minnesota and a M.S. in Music Technology from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
