If my child is sick, do they need to be tested for COVID-19?
We recommend you consult with your physician or our school nurse to determine if your child should be tested for COVID-19. Students with high-risk symptoms (new cough, fever, shortness of breath) should be tested for COVID-19.
Do I send my child to school if a member of the household is being tested for COVID-19?
Do not send your child to school until you know the results of the COVID-19 test.
If I am exposed to COVID-19 in the household, what should I do?
If you are exposed to COVID-19 in the household and are unvaccinated, you should quarantine for 10 days. After 7 days, you can return to school if you have a negative COVID-19 test. If you do not have a COVID-19 test after 7 days, you must quarantine for the entire 10 days. We recommend you consult with our school nurse on quarantine and testing procedures and timelines.
If I am exposed to COVID-19 at school or outside of the household, what should I do?
Iowa Department of Public Health suggests monitoring symptoms but you are not required to quarantine. The Central Lee School District recommends you be tested three days after exposure. It is recommended you wear a mask at school if you have been exposed to COVID-19 outside of your household.
Do I have to quarantine if I am fully vaccinated?
If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to quarantine. If exposed, please monitor symptoms closely. If you begin to show symptoms for COVID-19, you should be tested immediately and begin to quarantine.
Will the school alert us if our child was exposed to a COVID-19 positive at school?
Yes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. It will be your choice to quarantine or not after exposure at school. If you elect to quarantine, it will be considered an excused absence.
Do you need to alert the school if you or your child has tested positive for COVID-19?
Yes, please contact our school nurse, Shanna Martin, immediately upon knowledge of a positive COVID-19 case.
