Advanced Algebra 1

Class Description: Algebra I is a one-year course designed to teach students the fundamental ideas of algebra. Students in this class will experience a wide variety of topics including: functions, linear relationships (using multiple representations for linear situations, investigating slope, graphing lines, and finding the equations of lines), simplifying and solving (simplifying expressions, distributive property, multiplying polynomials, solving one-variable equations), solving systems of equations, arithmetic and geometric sequences, modeling two-variable data (lines of best fit, residuals, correlation coefficients, and upper and lower bounds), exponential functions (using multiple representations for exponential situations, exponential growth and decay, and modeling), quadratic functions (using multiple representations for quadratic situations, factoring, and completing the square), solving quadratics and inequalities, and solving complex equations.
