Vocational Agriculture was started by an act of Congress in 1917. FFA was formally organized in 1928 in Kansas City, MO. A total of 33 young men were issued Future Farmers of America charter membership. Nebraska was the sixth state to charter as an FFA Organization. The Central City chapter was chartered in 1932 as the 51st chapter. Nebraska has nearly 10,000 members in 203 chapters.
Eight State Officers have called Central City home. Robert Schmaltz, Greg Greving, Norm Krug, John McHargue, Jonie (Garwood) Ternes, Jacy Benson, Jim Eilts, and Bob (Robert) Eilts.
