Students in their second semester of a one-year program or the second year of a two-year program may be placed in the Program-Based Internship Program.
Students in one-year programs may apply for the Program-Based Internship Program at the start of the second nine weeks of the second semester.
First-year seniors in two-year programs are not eligible for the Program-Based Internship Program until the beginning of the second semester. This student should be exceptionally qualified.
The student’s academic, attendance, and discipline records should be in good standing.
The student should have arrangements for their own transportation to a Program-Based Internship site.
The instructor will complete and submit the Preliminary Placement Application to the Central Nine Student Services Office.
The Central Nine Student Services Office and Dean of Students will review the student’s academic, attendance, and discipline records.
The Central Nine Dean of Students will return the Placement form to the instructor indicating approval or denial.
If approval is granted, the Central Nine Instructor is required to make contact with the student’s parent(s) or guardian(s) to explain the program and the guidelines.
The Instructor is required to make contact with the work site.
A Training Plan and Agreement which outlines the tasks and/or job experiences, will be given to students if approval is granted. It must be completed and signed by all parties before the student begins work. The Assistant Director will be the last signature.
The original signed Training Plan and Agreement will be kept on file in the Student Services Office.
Five copies of the Training Plan and Agreement will be given to the student for distribution to the following parties:
