FAQ for Speech

General Questions

I lost my script. What should I do?

Come see Mrs. Woolard for a replacement! It would be a good idea to have a pocket folder for your script, judging sheets, calendar, and a pencil for rehearsals.

When are practices? What should I do if I can't make it to a practice?

See tab "Practice Calendar"

If you are UNABLE to be at practice please make sure your parents email me about this EXCUSED absence. We may ask you to come to an extra optional practice to see your progress.

If the absence is UNEXCUSED, you will need to come talk to one of the coaches to explain. Frequent UNEXCUSED absences may result in removal or rearrangement of groups.

What should I wear for my performances?

Casual dressy is the attire for the contests. No jeans, sweatshirts, tshirts, or hats may be worn at contest. Please be mindful of how much you move around in your skit when you choose what to wear. Hair should be out of your face so that the judges can hear/see you!

What should I bring with me to the contests? Do I need a dinner? How much money should I bring?

Script and a smile! You will need to eat dinner before we leave or at the contest depending on when you perform. Once you have performed you can leave with your parents! You are welcome to stay all night! Most concession stand items are a few dollars. This amount it at your parents discretion. I would say no more than $20!
