I currently live in Deer Creek with my boyfriend, Jordan, and our 12 year old cat, Dexter. Both of my parents live out of state (Colorado and Wisconsin), so I do not get to see them that often. I have an older sister, Erin, who moves frequently due to her husband being in the military. Currently, they are living in Italy -- of course I visited them in Italy in June 2025! Despite the distance, my sister and I are fairly close.
I enjoy anything crafty. Knitting, cross stitch, quilting, sewing, handlettering, painting, drawing, wood work, cooking, etc.
I also enjoy completing puzzles in my free time while I watch TV! We have a massive puzzle board that rotates and has drawers that sits in our living room -- making access to a puzzle at all time much easier.
I enjoying bringing my love for crafts and puzzles into the classroom to share with the students!
I am an avid reader (although I did not like reading when I was in school). If you need a book recommendation, ask me as I read a lot of children's and YA books!
I enjoy doing audiobooks from the Washington District Library as I can listen to them while I drive to and from work. If you are interested in getting started with audiobooks, let me know!
I enjoy traveling and going on vacation especially to any new MLB ballparks! My boyfriend and I are currently working on visiting every MLB ballpark. Currently, I have been to 28 of the 30 MLB ballparks! (We have Phoenix and Seattle left, which will hopefully get crossed off the list by the end of June 2026!)
Go Dodgers!
I enjoy cooking (not baking) and being in the kitchen. This summer, I worked on trying new veggies to help incorporate them into my diet!
My boyfriend and I are also big fans of couponing! We love when we can get items at the grocery store for less money, free, or even making money buying them. We frequently donate our couponing goods to the local food banks in Washington or Deer Creek/Mackinaw.
The 2025-2026 school year is my 13th year teaching at Central!
This is my 4th year teaching 4th grade, and I am beyond excited for this school year!
Prior to teaching 4th grade, I taught ELL (English Language Learners) for 9 years at Central Intermediate and Central Primary School.
Coaching at Central:
I started Knit for a Cause in January 2019! I teach 6-8th grade students how to knit while giving back to local charities like animal shelters, nursing homes/assisted living centers, children's hospital, and more!
In 2017, I became the assistant coach for Speech at CIS. Therefore, I spend my fall semester coaching 5th-8th grade speech students 2 days a week.
Every other year during the spring semester when the school is doing a musical, I help coach Drama at CIS by assisting the students with the behind the scenes tasks like programs, posters, props, costumes, slideshows, biographies, and more.
I was born and raised in the Bloomington-Normal area, so I am local to Central Illinois.
I love setting goals for myself and challenging myself to accomplish more than I thought I ever could!
I love being organized and planning ahead to ensure I am successful with what I am doing.
I studied arts and crafts and Telemark (downhill) skiing in Norway after high school. I attended a cultural school called Folk High Schools, which are for students between 17-25ish years old.
I used to be fluent in Norwegian. My language has faded over the years as I don't use it much anymore.
For 10 years, I learned Norwegian every summer in Minnesota at a language camp and even received 5 years of high school credit for Norwegian as a result of my time there.
In 2009, I taught Norwegian at the same summer camp.
I, also, learned French in high school, but I do not recall any of it anymore. I learned languages best in a full immersion setting, which isn't possible in a high school setting.
