CPS Newsletter | Summer | Issue Four

Headteacher's Blog

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this newsletter finds you well. Even with the bank holiday, we have managed to fit in lots of learning and activities as always.

Last week, Year 5 visited the  Natural History Museum as part of their Science learning.  They spent time looking at the exhibits on the solar system to explore how it came into existence and how life on Earth has changed over time.  This week, Year 2 had an exciting adventure at Whipsnade Zoo, exploring the diverse world of wildlife.  They have been learning about ‘Living things and their habitats’ and this trip helped the children to make the things they have learned more meaningful.

Not only have Year 2 been super busy learning and exploring but they have also shared a fabulous class assembly with their parents and friends.  It was so wonderful to see how much they children know and remember about the Great Fire of London from last half term.  Today, we were treated to a heart-warming performance by some of our youngest students in key stage one from Mulberry class. We heard all about their learning and thoroughly enjoyed their song about friendships.

I'm pleased to see that the weather has finally taken a turn for the better. As we transition into sunnier days, please ensure your child is prepared. Remember to check the forecast and equip them with a light waterproof jacket for potential rain. For sunny spells, apply sunscreen at home and ensure they wear a cap or sunhat to protect them from the sun's rays.

Next week marks an important milestone for our Year 6 students as they participate in the end of Key Stage 2 SATs. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and hard work leading up to these assessments. Our focus remains on each child doing their best, as we understand that is paramount. Please ensure they get plenty of rest the night before the tests and ensure their wellbeing is prioritised.

WE NEED YOU: SCHOOL CENSUS

Thursday 16th May - Please ensure your child comes to school and has a school dinner on that day.  The more school dinners the better the funding for our school and children.

Thank you for your continued support.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards

Mrs S. Wright

Einstein the Penguin
By Ioana Rangeley

After visiting London zoo, the Stewart family, who are enchanted by a small penguin, invite the penguin to come and stay with them whenever he likes. However, squabbling siblings, Imogen and Arthur, did not expect the penguin to take up their offer and are surprised when they find the penguin on their door step, that evening with a rucksack labeled ‘Einstein’ on the back.  The story continues with Einstein the penguin helping Arthur and Imogen with their insecurities and learning to get along. Arthur and Imogen must find out why Einstein has come to them and also keep away from the mysterious white-coat man.

Attendance at Central

ClassDojos

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is  90.43%.

Thank you for all of your support with attendance.

Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.

If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes!

1st place - Oak Class

2nd place - Pear Class

3rd place - Pine Class

Dear families,

We would be very grateful if you had any boys or girls underwear and socks that you are able to donate to school. All ages/sizes welcome and to be handed into the main office.

A gentle reminder that if your child does come home with spare items from school that they are washed and returned promptly.

Thank you for your support.

Dear parents / carers,

Thank you for your continued support with our coffee mornings. We have more coming up so please keep an eye on your messages, posters around the school and the Newsletter for these.

Have a fantastic weekend in the sunshine!
