Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back. I hope you all had a restful half term break.
Having shared the sad news with you earlier this week, we continue to hold in our thoughts the family and friends of Vethuja Chandrasekara from Apple Class during this time of loss. Thank you to those of you have shared condolence messages with us. We will be creating a condolence board in school and will be sharing all messages with Vethuja's parents at some point in the future.
Despite it being an incredibly difficult week for the Central Community, we started back with a focus on inclusion and neurodiversity in our community. Electric Umbrella, who narrowly missed out on the Britain's Got Talent final, performed for us live on Monday afternoon. They always brings such vibrant energy with them and they did not fail to please.

Year 5 Class Blog – A Fantastic Year of Learning
It has been a very productive and enjoyable year in Year 5. The children have worked with enthusiasm across all subjects and have taken part in some memorable learning experiences.
One of the highlights was when History Off the Page visited us and brought the Viking era to life. The children had the chance to take part in a range of practical activities and learn more about what daily life was like for Viking settlers. It was a great way to deepen our understanding of this fascinating period in history.
In science, we were lucky to welcome the WonderDome mobile planetarium to school. This gave the children the opportunity to explore the solar system in an immersive and engaging way. It supported our space topic well and inspired some excellent questions and discussions.
Our English work has been varied and creative. The children wrote a newspaper report about Ernest Shackleton and his journey to the Antarctic, produced non-chronological reports about space, and enjoyed writing a range of stories, including mystery and adventure narratives. Their writing has shown great progress in both imagination and technical skills.
In religious education this half term, we will be learning about Sikhism. As part of this unit, we visited a Gurdwara, where the children had the chance to observe and learn about Sikh beliefs and practices. They showed respect, interest and thoughtful engagement throughout the visit.
It has been a pleasure to see the children’s hard work and development over the course of the year.
This week's Healthy Selfie is from Miss Jones and Miss Gow who ran their first 5km race.

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 94.54%.
Attendance award:
KS1 - Pear 100%
KS2 - Walnut 100%
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
