Headteacher Update
Dear Parents/Carers,
Happy new year. I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you have had an enjoyable break. Welcome back to another term filled with exciting learning opportunities at Central.
We have an action-packed term ahead, and I wanted to share some of the fantastic events and activities planned for our students this term:
Our youngest learners in Early Years will have a visit from the Arc Farm. This hands-on experience will allow them to connect with nature and learn about the animals. Year 1 students will be stepping back in time as they embark on a journey to explore the life and contributions of Florence Nightingale. Year 2 will engage in a science-focused trip to Cassiobury Park. Our Year 3 students will dive into an Ancient Egyptian themed day. Get ready for a day full of mummies, pharaohs, and ancient wonders ! Our Year 6 students will be visiting the Hendon RAF Museum, where they will explore the rich history of aviation and the heroic contributions of the Royal Air Force. As you can see, there is so much to look forward to.
Today, our Year 4 children are visiting the British Science Museum. I'm sure the visit will spark curiosity and enthusiasm about Science and I very much look forward to hearing about their day. Next week, Year 6 will be participating in the Young Voices event at the O2 Arena. They will be part of the largest children's choir in the world. What an experience!
We are also thrilled to announce that the author, Ross Montgomery, will be visiting our school in March. His engaging storytelling and interactive sessions promise to inspire a love for reading among our students.
As we usher in the new term however, it's important to be mindful of the weather conditions that may affect our daily routines. We have received a yellow weather warning from the local authority until 18th January 2024. To ensure the well-being and comfort of our students during this period, we kindly request that they come to school prepared for the chilly weather. Additionally, please ensure all winter clothing is labelled with your child's name to prevent any mix-ups.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued support.
Kind regards
Mrs S. Wright

Mrs Bond's Book of the Week
This week's book recommendation is suitable for Upper Key Stage 2 children.
The Railway Children
By E Nesbit
A classic story of adventure and loss. This story involves three young children who move from London to 'The Three Chimneys,' a much smaller house in the countryside near a railway line, with their mother. Their father had mysteriously left their home in the company of two men one evening. The children don’t know where he has gone or why. Their lives are drastically changed as without their father’s income, their mother is now busy writing to earn money. The children have lots of adventures as they explore the countryside and especially the railway line and station.

Attendance at Central
ClassDojo in Key Stage Two
At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 93.3%.
The first week back is an important week to be in school regularly and on time. I am looking forward to our attendance percentage growing over the next weeks.
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes!
We have just reset the dojos. Watch this space next week...
