At Central Primary School, the Kapow Music scheme has truly brought music to life for our students. Every week, children are immersed in exciting and interactive lessons that explore the wonderful world of sound. From clapping out rhythms and learning simple melodies on xylophones, Kapow Music makes learning engaging and accessible for all. The scheme's well-structured lessons allow our teachers to guide students through a variety of musical activities, building their confidence and fostering a genuine love for music. We've seen a fantastic increase in participation during music sessions, with children eagerly sharing their musical discoveries and creations. The Kapow Music scheme not only develops musical skills but also encourages teamwork, creativity, and self-expression, making it a valuable and enjoyable part of our curriculum.
Music Beyond the Classroom:
Our after-school music clubs continue to thrive, providing students with opportunities to further develop their musical talents.
Our children had many opportunities to perform and showcase their talents through class assemblies, Christmas performances, Young Voices and violin performances.
Teachers took part in a music workshop twilight session by Herts music service, which was very informative.
Our Students’ thoughts:
" It (Young Voices) was really, really fun when we went there. There were so many lights and celebrities but the best part was singing with friends. It was very funny when all the parents and Mr Freeman was rapping the song. It was so much fun." Sienna (Chestnut)
" I loved when we sang Christmas songs and did actions. I think it was good. I liked that our singing was very good and also we got to see our parents. " Sleem (Pear)
Looking Forward:
As we move into the second half of the year, we are excited to continue our musical journey. We have many more exciting projects and performances planned e.g. Dejeme workshop and percussion music instrument lessons.
We encourage all parents to support their children's musical development at home. Simple activities like singing together, listening to music, and creating homemade instruments can make a big difference.
We're incredibly proud of our students' musical achievements and look forward to a continued year filled with music and joy!

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 95% . Our current attendance percentage is 93%.
This is a great improvement! Well done and thank you!
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
