Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a productive and enjoyable half-term. I am finding it hard to believe we've been back for six weeks already.
Year 6 have been particularly busy over the past two weeks, taking part in a geography field trip and showcasing their talents at Young Voices in Wembley. This is their third trip this half term and they have returned on all occasions full on both learning experiences but also some lasting memories that I'm sure they will take with them as they move on later in the year to secondary schools.
Year 1 had a visit to a garden centre as part of their Science topic on plants. While there, they also embraced their creativity by making outdoor art, bringing their learning to life in a hands-on way. Though it was a little muddy, I hear the children thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yesterday, we conducted a lockdown practice drill as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping students and staff safe. The drill was carried out calmly and efficiently, ensuring that everyone is familiar with the procedures in the unlikely event of an emergency. We understand that safety drills can sometimes cause concern, so please rest assured that this was a routine practice to help our school community feel prepared.
You may have noticed a greater police presence in and around school recently. Every school is linked to a PCSO. Unfortunately, for about a year, we have not had a PCSO. In the last few weeks, we have been allocated a PCSO and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce PCSO Sangita Sira to our community. PCSO Sangita, is someone we want the children to know and feel comfortable approaching. We are looking forward to seeing her and her team more frequently next term when they are running a programme, Mini-Police, with Year 5.
As always, we were pleased to welcome parents and carers to our spring term Parents’ evening this week. Thank you to everyone who attended—we truly appreciate your engagement and support.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable half-term break.
Kind regards,
Mrs Wright

What an exciting half term it has been in Walnut Class. We have been busy diving into new topics, developing key skills, and taking part in some amazing experiences. Here’s what we’ve been up to.
English & Science – Exploring the Solar System
In English, we have been writing detailed reports about the solar system, using research to create informative and engaging pieces of work. This linked perfectly with our Science lessons, where we explored the wonders of space, learning all about the planets, their orbits, and the fascinating features of our universe. The highlight of our learning was a visit from the Wonderdome, a special space-themed dome that transported us through the galaxy – a truly unforgettable experience.
Art – Space Paintings Inspired by Giacomo Balla & Umberto Boccioni
Our creativity shone in Art as we designed our very own space-inspired paintings in the style of Giacomo Balla and Umberto Boccioni, two famous Futurist artists. We explored how movement and energy can be captured in artwork, using bold colours and dynamic brushstrokes to bring our cosmic scenes to life.
Music – South and West Africa
Music has been full of energy and rhythm as we’ve been learning the song Shosholoza. The children have thoroughly enjoyed singing and dancing to this lively and uplifting piece, embracing its rich cultural heritage.
Maths – Mastering Multiplication, Division & Fractions
In Maths, we’ve been working hard to multiply 3- and 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers, using formal written methods. We also tackled division using the bus stop method before moving on to some tricky fraction work, including multiplying fractions and finding fractions of amounts. The children have shown great perseverance and problem-solving skills!
It’s been a fantastic term so far, and we can’t wait for what’s next.
— Walnut Class, Year 5
This week year 6 had an unforgettable experience at the Young Voices concert at Wembley Arena. After months of preparation, our pupils joined thousands of other school pupils in an incredible celebration of music and performance.
The concert was a spectacular event, with the students singing a wide range of songs alongside professional musicians and dancers. A special highlight was when one of our pupils had the exciting opportunity to meet MC Grammar, who later wowed the audience with his performance.
The students were a credit to the school, showcasing their enthusiasm, talent, and teamwork throughout the day. It’s a memory Year 6 will treasure for years to come.
