This term in Apple Class we have been extremely busy with lots of exciting learning across the curriculum!
In Geography, we explored volcanoes and discovered how they are formed. We learned about magma, lava and tectonic plates.
This linked brilliantly with our English work, where we became journalists and wrote detailed newspaper reports about the eruption of Pompeii. We worked hard to include headlines, eyewitness quotes and powerful vocabulary to make our reports realistic and engaging.
In Science, we investigated different types of rocks and learned how soil is formed. We carried out experiments to test the properties of rocks and thought carefully about why different soils are suitable for different purposes.
Our Maths learning has focused on fractions. We have been finding fractions of shapes and numbers and explaining our reasoning clearly.
In RE, we have been learning about Islam and the importance of Hajj, understanding why it is a special pilgrimage for Muslims.
In Art, we created fantastic volcano sculptures using modroc techniques, we will finish these off by painting them to look like real volcanoes.

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 94.13%.
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
