Year 4 Blog – A Great Summer 1
As always, last half term, Year 4 were busy across the curriculum. In English, the children explored invention writing inspired by Until I Met Dudley and Eye of the Storm. In Maths, they tackled decimals and money with increasing confidence. In Science, they explored living things and their habitats, learning how to group organisms and understand the impact of environmental change.
Our Geography focus was Brazil—its culture, ecosystems, and contrasts with life in the UK. The children also developed digital media skills in Computing, explored Jewish faith practices in RE, and reflected on relationships and respect in PSHE. From samba rhythms in Music to rainforest-inspired art, and sporting skills in tennis and rounders, it’s been a dynamic and enriching term of learning.

Year 4 loved our visit to Wisely gardens where they explored and sketched plants

PSHE at Central Primary – Summer 2
PSHE has got off to a brilliant start this half term, with each year group exploring the unit ‘Changing Me’. Pupils have shown persistence and taken responsibility for their learning. Here are some wonderful examples of work from across the school:
Year 5 have been learning about the importance of positive self-image. They are beginning to understand how affirmations and self-love can support their wellbeing. In class, they have been creating sentences that reflect their self-worth and positive self-image. The children explored how self-image can affect our wellbeing and influence the choices we make.
Year 2 are learning about the different stages of human life, from baby to elderly adult. They have been discussing the similarities and differences between each stage, and how growth and development may look different from person to person.
Year 1 have been taking part in a range of engaging activities to learn about the life cycles of animals, humans, and plants. They worked in pairs to match images of different life cycle stages, demonstrating strong oracy skills, asking thoughtful questions, and working effectively as a team.

Attendance award:
KS1 - No class over 95%
