Dear Parents/Carers
This week has been a busy and exciting one across the school.
Children in Years 3-6 took part in an engaging poetry workshop, where they explored different styles of poetry and honed their creative writing skills.
KS1 has also had an eventful week. On Monday, Year 2 participated in an Easter workshop, learning about the significance of the celebration through interactive activities. Additionally, some of our Year 1 children had the opportunity to visit Tesco as part of their DT unit on food and nutrition. During their visit, they explored a variety of fruits and even selected their own to use in making delicious fruit kebabs.
Although I was unable to attend Mulberry class assembly today, Mrs Bond told me all about how well the children did. The children showcased their learning and enthusiasm, and it was a pleasure to see their hard work come to life on stage.
Well done to all our pupils for their fantastic participation this week.
Measles Update
We want to remind parents that there has been a measles outbreak in Watford. We have not had any confirmed cases in school to date. Please refer to the handout sent last week, which explains the symptoms and advises when it is or isn’t appropriate for children to attend school. Thank you to everyone who has already shared their child's vaccine status with us—this information will help us respond appropriately if we have any confirmed cases in school.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
Mrs Wright
Headteacher
Oak class have been having a very busy term with lots of exciting learning taking place. We have been learning about WW2 in History and looking at some books linked to evacuation this term.
English - The Lion and the Unicorn
This term we have been studying the book "The Lion and the Unicorn" by Shirley Hughes in English. By looking at the images and the text, the children have written a diary entry in the style of an evacuee and a setting description.
History - World War 2
In History this term, we have been learning about the impact of World War II on life in Britain. The children have enjoyed learning about evacuation and participated in a ‘pretend’ air raid siren from World War II. The children have researched different aspects of WWII, the Blitz, RAF, Women's Land Army and life during the war and will be creating informative double page spreads.
Science - Circulatory System
In Science we have been learning about healthy diet, exercise and the circulatory system. They re-capped the digestive system this week and then discovered how nutrients that we eat can be absorbed into the bloodstream via the small intestine. We had an enjoyable lesson making up the components of blood using different ingredients.
Reading - Once
The children have really been taking an active role in the literature we read and what titles they would like purchased for the book corner. We are really enjoying reading the novel "Once" and finding out about when Poland was occupied by the Germans in World War II.
Spanish – La Segunda Guerra Mundial (World War 2)
A new and exciting addition to our learning is our Spanish cross-curricular unit with World War 2. We are learning about different countries that were involved in this period of History. This is a fantastic way to combine language learning with our knowledge of World War 2.
Computing – Programming and databases
In Computing, we’ve been working on programming using Tinkercad. We successfully created our own name badges using Tinkercad– it was so much fun to see our names come to life! Next, we will be creating our own desk tidy.

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 94.33%.
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
