Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the year, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and to wish you all a good winter break.
It has been an incredibly eventful few weeks at school. Last week, we enjoyed our Christmas Jumper and Dinner Day, which was a huge success. Thanks to Holly and her team in the kitchen. This week, the school was alive with music as we hosted four carol concerts. The children performed beautifully and with such confidence—what a proud moment for us all.
Yesterday, our Key Stage 2 children were treated to a trip to see the pantomime Aladdin. It was great fun and it was lovely to see them all having such a good time.
A special thank you goes out to all the parents who helped make our Winter Fair such a success. Whether you set up, volunteered, or came along to support, your efforts truly paid off. The event had a wonderful community feel, and I am delighted to announce that we raised a whopping £823.33.
As 2024 comes to an end, I am grateful for all we’ve accomplished together this year. I look forward to welcoming the children back to school on 7th January and seeing you all in 2025. However, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment, passion and care. The difference you make in the lives of our children cannot be overstated.
Kind regards
Mrs S. Wright

We have had an exciting few week in Apple class, full of exciting exploring, wonderful learning and curious learners.
Here's a snippet of what we've been up to:
Carol Concert: Over the last few weeks, we have been non-stop practicing for our fabulous carol concert that we had on Monday. I was beyond impressed by Apple class for their beautiful singing and hard work to remember all their actions.
English: We have been looking at grammar and poetry the last 2 weeks of term. Delving into poems by Michael Rosen, Malorie Blackman and others, looking at rhyme, expanded nouns phrases and practicing our performing.
Maths: Our maths learning has been based on multiplication and division. We have been recapping our knowledge of sharing and grouping and learning the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. We have all been very persistent and have made great progress so far.
History: We have been learning all about the Stone Age and Iron Age in History. It has been so interesting learning about Iron Age homes and how different they are to our homes now. Did you know some homes were made using animal poo?
Science: In science, we have been exploring different types of rocks including, metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous. We carried out an experiment using chocolate to recreate the different types of rock. Our class demonstrated excellent curiosity during this lesson. They then made fantastic posters all about different rock types, remembering everything they learnt during the experiment.
DT (Design & Technology): Apple class have been exploring healthy alternatives to cupcakes with icing. After trying different fruits last week, this week we baked our healthy cupcakes using blueberries and strawberries. This was very exciting and they turned out great!
PE- Dodgeball and dance are our topics for this term. We have learnt many new skills and shown excellent sportsmanship during our lessons.
As we move forward, we are excited to continue our learning journey after the winter break. We are looking forward to our class assembly next term so we can show you all our wonderful learning that we have and will be doing. Apple class is giving their best every day, and we can’t wait to see all they achieve. Keep up the hard work!
Poet for her super letter writing. She ensured she used all of the key features of a letter and included the conjunctions ‘and’ and ‘because’.
Dawid for trying his very hardest to form letters correctly and beginning to write with more independence.
Joel crafted a beautiful list poem, following the correct format and using question marks at the end. Additionally, we wrote a non-chronological biography of Louis Braille, with Joel including several fascinating facts.
Sleem for a wonderful and beautifully presented biography all about Louis Braille
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the autumn term heading towards the Christmas holiday period, the Governing Board would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Central for all their hard work this term.
It has been wonderful visiting the school this term and particularly over the past few weeks where the school community has had the opportunity to see the children perform their assemblies, christmas concerts, and having fun at the school Christmas fair. We also had the opportunity to see children at Central performing as the Junior Phoenix choir, supporting the Watford Phoenix Choir for their wonderful Christmas performance at St Mary's Church in Watford. These are only a few examples of how the staff work so hard to make this all happen and none of this would be possible without them.
New to our governing board this term, I am delighted to welcome the following governors;
Ashkan Samardi, who will have responsibility for Wellbeing and Equality, Aditi Patel, who was elected as Parent Governor last half term and Allen Talbot who has been co opted onto the governing board and brings with him a wealth of experience in governance.
Other members of the board are Adam Titcombe (SEND and Health and Safety), Claire Miller (Safeguarding from Spring 2025) and Yasmin Flynn is our staff governor. There is more information about the school and the Governing Board on the school website so do check it out.
On behalf of the Governing Board, we would like to wish the staff, children, parents and carers at Central a very Happy Christmas.
Best wishes
Cheryl Clark and Solomon Brown

Mr Freeman
At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 94.55%.
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Mr Freeman
At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
