Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been great to see parents/carers at the welcome meetings over the last few weeks and at the parent coffee morning last Friday. We look forward to seeing you at the next coffee morning on Thursday 23rd October. We are focusing on building our work with our school and parent community as part of our school improvement plan this academic year and are also hoping to grow our Parent Staff Association (PSA). Allen Talbot (Parent and Governor)can be contacted via the school office if you are interested in supporting our PSA with events and would very much welcome some support.
To enable you to keep up to date with all of the school events that will take place this academic year, please see the school calendar on the school website. You will see we have endeavoured to add all events that we are currently aware of up until July 2026. We hope this will enable you to make arrangements and to plan your diaries well in advance. There are of course some events that have not been arranged yet as this have to be done nearer to the time but we are aiming to get these out to you will plenty of notice.
In other news, over the summer, builders and decorators were busy working in the school. One of the Reception classes had remedial work to the ceiling. The Y5 and Y6 Newton Price building was painted and re-carpeted. The soon to be library had a new entrance added to ease access. This improvement work will continue during this academic year. The school has had a thorough deep clean and the classrooms and shared spaces are looking great. Thank you very much to all of those involved in the work over the summer. It has been wonderful for the children to return to a refreshed learning environment.
Year 5 have kicked off the school year with the school's first trip. They visited The Serge Hill Project which this week which is a not-for-profit initiative based on the understanding that working with nature can radically transform people’s health and wellbeing. Their aim is to foster community inclusion through gardening and other forms of creativity. They will be working with Year 5 to transform some our spaces this year and we are very much looking forward to seeing what they get up to.
I hope you have an enjoyable weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs Wright

This week’s blog explores our exciting whole-school writing unit based on Beegu by Alexis Deacon. From Nursery to Year 6, every class has been inspired by Beegu’s journey of curiosity, loneliness, and belonging, using the story as a springboard for creative writing. Pupils have developed key writing skills through a progression of carefully planned lessons—ranging from imaginative storytelling in the younger years to thoughtful discussions and persuasive writing in the upper school. The unit has not only strengthened writing across all year groups but also fostered empathy, collaboration, and a shared love of literature throughout the school.

At Central Primary School, we take attendance and punctuality very seriously. We aim to have an attendance figure in excess of 96% . Our current attendance percentage is 95.57%.
Attendance award:
KS1 - Mulberry
KS2 - Beech
Please remember arriving on time for school is important because late arrivals will miss and also disrupt the learning already happening in class.
If you have concerns about or need support with your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

At Central Primary School, we recognise pro-social behaviours in Key Stage 2 by giving children ClassDojo points. Every half term, the classes decide on a collective target to earn a class reward. In addition, at the end of the half term, we hold a ClassDojo raffle, where the children can win some exciting prizes! How is your child(ren)'s class doing?
