Plaster Masks
Tobey Griem “Fish out of Water”
12X3X3.8 Plaster, Acrylic Paint, red gem eyeballs, 2018
I wanted to make a simple fish and that was all it was i decided to use the paint i did by looking at other type of fish then i used white and black paint for mouth and eye balls the only thing that changed is what i wanted to do for the eyes. I wanted to let the audience know that it is supposed to be a fish out of water and can tell by the mouth and how it looks like it is gasping for water. If i could change anything i would change the Mask type i would want to choose a different mask because i wanted to experiment with different ideas.I love that it captured the image i had for the mask and that i did not try to change to much like making the paint different and changing the animal.
Tobey Griem “Barn”
12X18,” Graphite on Paper, 2018
I developed an idea by imagining why i do in my life so i thought of how i work on the farm. I want my audience to think that yes this is a barn i can tell. Maybe the design idea of what i could make. I love that it is technically a part of me that i have lived something like this and that i did a good job shading.

My love for the game of basketball and the way people are so athletic to be able to dunk
What was your process for creating this work?
I drew out my original design and then I created coloring and textures in Photoshop
In what way did you demonstrate persistence or problem solving when you faced challenges?
Well I was going to do bleachers but it was hard to do those around the body so I went and made other things to make up for that design
What creative risks did you take, or what is something new you tried or learned?
I went and made a window and tried to make it look like it was dark outside and do it all buy hand so I could get my layers in
What do you like the most about your finished work?
How it represents something I love
What would you change if you could start over?
I would probably like to change the original artwork so it would have been easier to do instead of having to start over and get frustrated.
