Jonny Martin "Phoenixes"
18in X 24in, Acrylic Paint, 2019
This Painting fits into the life lesson theme by saying: I WILL RISE, no matter what you are going through, you WILL make it through. Some easily identified Symbolism is of course the Phoenixes and the Chinese Symbols which translate to Phoenix. If I could start over, I would change the background from a plain black to a different color. I love the meaning behind the Phoenixes and that they rise from the ash, which I've seen and done as well.
Jonny Martin "Casualties"
18in X 24in, Acrylic paint, 2019
I'm not really sure if this painting fits into any Identity theme. Some Iconography identified is war and it's destruction, especially in WWII. If I could start again I would change the sky indefinitely. I love that the tank's paint isn't perfectly layered, like it was rushed into the battle to it's inevitable doom.
