Cameron Lee “Washington”

Graphite and Acrylic, 2017

This is a graphite realism portrait of George Washington, our nation’s first President, behind him is a simple painting of the American flag. In this piece, I included two iconic symbols of our nation and attempted to express patriotism through it. If I were to start over I would consider trying to paint a realistic flag. I like George Washington the most out of everything, specifically, his hair because it currently the best drawing of hair I have made.

Cameron Lee “Eye”

9 x 12, Acrylic, 2017

I painted a surreal image of a human iris and pupil, contrasting above and below, fire sits atop and I simply drop of water dangles below. There is no defining message to this artwork, take from it what you want. I simply wanted to incorporate some large elements of symbolism into one piece. I did not realize until after, how unbalanced the fire is in the painting, and I would change this if I started from the beginning. My favorite part about this piece is the iris itself.

Cameron Lee “Skull”

9x12, Water color, 2017

This began because of a sketch that I had wished was painted. To resolve this, I was introduced to watercolor pencils. This is a graphite drawn skull that is colored using water color pencils. In this piece, I feel I messed up on the right eye of the skull, and would change it now if I could.

Cameron Lee “Father & Son”

Acrylic & Graphite, 2018

This consists of a realistic drawing, of a child’s hand gripping his father’s, supported by a blend of cool, dark colors surrounding the boarder. These colors gradually shift to deep reds and oranges, focusing their point on the connection between the two. I planned my drawing to symbolize and show the bond between parent and child.

Cameron Lee “Falling”

Acrylic & Water Color, 2018

This is a surreal, mostly acrylic painting, that began as a drawing. This sprouted as an attempt at figure drawing, however grew personally as meaningful work. I painted the figure falling, his back facing the depths and reaching out. More importantly, his presence is represented with a galaxy. MY symbolism within this is that though in life we may feel if we are falling, unaware of our future, but we should not fear this because there are unexplored wonders within your life, and worlds we’ve yet to see.

Cameron Lee “Moonlit Horizon”

Graphite & Water Color, 2018

This is a realistic drawing of a beachside community with a watercolor painting of the night sky. I wanted to finish this project because it was a challenge for my skill set. I did not find symbolism in the work personally, but enjoyed the challenge of drawing an original landscape. Had I known where I would go with the drawing, I would have begun on better quality paper.
