I wanted to create something using a green neon paint I had gotten. My main idea was to make a piece of art that looks almost ugly but is cohesive. I did a lot of painting with my fingers and used a brush to glob up thick parts of the glitter paint. I just mainly wanted to have fun and experiment with texture and materials. In the top left corner, a character is not having a conversation with a person but with the art. Thanking the piece for allowing him to use his creativity freely. The upper domino, if multiplied equals 9, and the lower one if added equals 9. The number 9 symbolizes creation, the end of one cycle, and the beginning of another. I struggled to start and didn't really know what I wanted to make, but I just forced myself to start. This piece is very surreal and very me. I feel like it's one of the most unique things I've ever made.
I wanted to create something about the media since it was so relevant. I got the idea from a subject in Painting ll, but never got to finish it. I started my idea by wanting a kind of rollercoaster of different things. Social media and any kind of platform is such an awesome way to connect and it has things you like that catch your eye. Although, there are highs and lows. I used a person in a rabbit hat to resemble a victim. Basically, the theme is people victimizing themselves and not taking accountability. The fruit resembles overindulgence like we are getting more addicted to whatever it is. This piece came to me fairly quickly. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and how I wanted to create it. It's very me with the checkerboard pattern and the use of multi-media.
