Science
investigates the following areas: Technology & Engineering, Physical Science, Earth Space Science, & Life Science

develops a deeper understanding of scientific inquiry
utilizes the scientific method to assist students in making observations and test out their theories so they can better understand the natural world
Ask a Question-Think about what you want to know. What are you curious about?
Gather Information-Think about what you already know and then research to learn more information about the topic.
Make a Hypothesis-Make a prediction based on the information you already know and the information you researched. A hypothesis is an educated guess.
Conduct Experiment-Design an experiment to test your hypothesis. You will need materials and steps for your experiment.
Collect & Analyze Data-Make observations and record what you see happening. You can use a chart, table, or graph. Organizing your data will make it easier for you to analyze.
Make a Conclusion-Make a generalization based off of the data you collected during the experiment.
Health
participates in a puberty program through Girls Inc. of Wayne County during the first semester. The curriculum is for middle school students. It is a national core program that is research-based.
involves the JACY House Child Advocacy Center in presenting the program titled: 'Teen Safety Matters'. It empowers students to spot and respond to bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, and digital dangers.
implements the D.A.R.E. program the second semester through the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. This program helps students resist pressures which may influence them to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Student will be introduced to the D.A.R.E. Decision Making Model that will assist them in problem solving and help them make wise decisions. Student will be required to write a D.A.R.E. essay near the end of the program as a culminating activity.
About Me:
Hello, my name is Teresa Marshall. I am excited to teach sixth grade science and health. This will be my 29th year teaching, and my 5th year at Centerville-Abington Elementary. I taught at CJHS for 17 years and Rose Hamilton Elementary for 7 years. My husband and I have 4 daughters: Rileigh, Jaedyn, Kylar, & Reese. I live in Richmond and enjoy spending time with my students and my family. I love TEACHING students to love to LEARN and am very enthusiastic to begin this new academic year.
Education:
I attended Lawrenceburg High School and graduated in 1990. I went on to study at the University of Indianapolis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and special education in 1994.
