What are Add-ons?

Add ons are programs/apps designed to work with a particular Google Workspace app like Docs or Slides. For example, Easybib is an add-on that helps students build a bibliography or works cited list into a research report completed in Docs.

Here's how to get them- usually, in the top menu of the Google App, look for "add-ons."

In Slides, it's now under Extensions: (you can use your add-ons from this menu, or get new ones from the Add on menu)

To find add-ons in Drive, Calendar, and Gmail, look for your sidebar on the right and click the + sign:

Don't see this sidebar? Click the arrow on the bottom right of your browser to pop it out:

In Forms, add-ons are under the puzzle piece in the top menu:

Currently, you can only find Add-ons in Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Forms, Sheets, and Slides.

From these menus, you can select "get add-ons" to find useful programs to run with Docs. You can also access and use existing add-ons.

Docs:

Easy Clipart: easy search tool to add clip art to your docs

Kaizena: Allows teacher to provide fast, high quality feedback on student work. Also works with SLIDES

Slides:

Pear Deck: Create interactive slide presentations. 100% a must-have. We subscribe to premium as a district.

NewsELA Lessons Beta: Still developing, but uses NewsELA articles and makes them interactive, similarly to PearDeck

Sheets:

Flubaroo: Quickly grade assignments collected from a form, including short answers. Email feedback to students

Gmail:

Mailmeteor: Mail merge that's easy to use. works with sheets, docs, slides, gmail. Already installed by district tech.

Forms:

Choice Eliminator 2: Eliminates answer choices once they have been selected. Useful for creating a sign up sheet. This is how Riles managed virtual parent conferences.
