What does a School Counselor do?
A school counselor supports the mental health of students and this includes:
Help understand feelings
Help develop coping skills (ways to calm down)
Support in conflict resolution
Help socialize and make friends
Recognize strengths
Keep students safe and healthy
Talk about how things are going in school & home
Help with food, clothes, school supplies and community resources

Every class has a cozy space with sensory tools or fidgets for students to reset.
Students can take a short break outside the classroom with calming items and activities
Students may use a pass to visit a peaceful room with Ms. Haslam for a 10- minute reset using calming tools or activities.
Hygiene items are available for students who need them while at school or at home.

Music can be very calming and helps people focus, plus it makes it fun and boosts your mood! Singing along to the Little Spot videos can help you learn more about your emotions and how to work through them.
Reading SEL books help to learn the knowledge, skills and attitude neccesary to manage emotions.
