How to Complete the FAFSA Graduation Requirement.
Neb. Rev. Stat. § 79-729, provides that, beginning in school year 2024-2025, each public high school senior student must complete and submit to the United States Department of Education a FAFSA prior to graduating from high school. A student will not be required to submit a FAFSA if an opt-out form is filled out and signed by a parent or guardian, the student themselves if 19 years old, or by the school principal or principal’s designee.
Step 1: Create a FSA ID
(See below on who needs an ID)
Step 3:
Email Mr. Waller a screenshot of the Confirmation Email that you completed the FAFSA or a copy of the Opt-Out-Form.
Who needs an FSA ID
Parents filing Married, Filing Jointly only need ONE parent ID
Parents Filing Married, Filing Separately need BOTH parent IDS
Parents not married but living Separately need BOTH parent IDS
Parents divorced, separated, remarried needs the parent that provided the most financial support to have an ID. If support is equal use the parent with the greater income (students and parents need to determine this for themselves).
